Introduction to the MSc Sport, Event & Hospitality Management at SKEMA

The MSc Sport, Event & Hospitality Management is a full-time program offered at SKEMA Business School – Sophia Antipolis campus.

The program currently offers two study-duration options: 1 year or 2 years, with intakes in January and September. What Will You Study in the Tourism & Hospitality Program at SKEMA?

One of the program’s key highlights is that students do not study hospitality solely from a traditional hotel-management perspective. Instead, they explore the entire Sport – Event – Hospitality ecosystem.

From the first semester, students study subjects such as Business and Management of Hospitality, Professional Events, People Management, and Financial Management. They can also choose electives such as Hotel Business Models, Event Programme Management, or Managing Rights in Sport & Entertainment.

In the following semester, the program goes deeper into Hospitality Management, Sports Events Management, Project Management, Strategic Sales & Distribution, Revenue & Profitability in Event & Hospitality.

Students can also choose courses related to emerging industry trends, including AI for Sport, Event & Hospitality Management, Sport Marketing, Social Media & Influencer Marketing, Hospitality Certification, and Key Trends in Professional Events.

As a result, students not only learn how to operate a hospitality business but also develop management thinking, analytical capabilities, and the ability to adapt to changes in the market.

A Program Focused on Practical Learning and Business Experience

If students only study theory, it can be difficult to understand how a hotel, event, or hospitality business actually operates. This is why SKEMA places practical learning and business connections at the heart of the program.

The program includes live company projects, business simulations, meetings with industry professionals, and company visits. After approximately 8 months of study, students also have the opportunity to undertake work experience or a research project.

In particular, the location of the Sophia Antipolis campus gives students the advantage of studying on the French Riviera – a region with extensive activities related to tourism, events, sports, and hospitality.

One student in the program, Cindy Martins, shared that practical visits to locations such as JW Marriott Cannes, Hippodrome of Cagnes-Sur-Mer, and Auron Ski Resort gave her the opportunity to directly observe how the industry operates and even find an internship opportunity during her studies.

This demonstrates that the program is not simply focused on academic knowledge but also aims to prepare students to enter an international professional environment.
